# A Town Dating 10,000 Ago Was Discovered at the Entrance to Jerusalem

A prosperous Neolithic town dated to 10,000 years ago has been discovered in Motza, at the very entrance to modern Jerusalem.

The site was covered by a very thin layer of soil only, and it was found when a new road construction started.

This discovery is absolutely fascinating, as till now it has been no evidence of any human presence at Judea dating that period. Actually, this town coincides with the time when the walls of Jericho, the oldest fortified city in the human history, were built, few dozen miles away from Motza – near the Dead Sea.
