- Pick up and drop off at Tel Aviv or Jerusalem
We shall pick you up at your Tel Aviv or Jerusalem hotels and shall further start descending from the Jerusalem Mountains into the Judean Desert full of breathtaking views. Our first stop will be at the Good Samaritan Inn. The location, at the side of the road going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, fitted Jesus’ parable about the man who “fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead” (Luke 10:25-37). At present, the site is a museum, one of the largest in the world devoted to mosaics. Displays both indoors and outdoors include mosaics from the Ancient Jewish and Samaritan synagogues, as well as from Early Christian churches. We shall continue to Jordan Valley and shall further visit Deir Hajla Monastery. Here, by the Ancient tradition, Mary Mother of Jesus was hiding in a cave and breast fed baby Jesus. The monastery was further destroyed by the invading Persian Army, and it still keeps the sculls of the monks executed by the invaders. Here we shall enjoy the beautiful decorations and frescoes and descend to Underground Church to marvel a famous fresco which depicts Mary breast feeding baby Jesus. We shall continue to Qasr Al Yahud, the Baptism site at the Jordan River. Qasr Al Yahud is believed to be the place where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist This exclusively beautiful site, at the border between Israel and Jordan, is surrounded by the new and ancient monasteries and creates a strong feeling of Mystery. Our last stop will be a National Park Qumran, a two thousand years old communal village of the Jewish Sect “Yahad” , which is also known as “Essenes”. This is also the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls have been found, in the surrounding caves. Many of the Sect' believes remind those of Jesus and early Christians. Tour Price excludes relevant entrance fees to the paid sites.
